How to make a gift of stocks and bonds
If your broker holds securities for you:
Instruct your broker in writing to make a free delivery through DTC #8862 Merrill Lynch for credit to account #850-04A00 Catholic Medical Mission Board, Inc. In your letter you should state the number of shares you want transferred and identify your account. Your letter should also state that the gift is for charitable purposes.
Example: "Please make a free delivery of 100 shares of (symbol or name) through DTC to #8862 Merrill Lynch for credit to account #850-04A00, Catholic Medical Mission Board, Inc. from (account number). These shares are being given as a charitable gift to CMMB for its general purposes." Please mail or fax a copy of your letter of instruction to CMMB so your gift can be acknowledged: fax# 212-807-9161.

If you have possession of stock certificates:
Mail the un-endorsed certificate via certified mail to CMMB. Send it to the attention of Nancy Smith. Under separate cover, mail a signed stock power to CMMB with a note stating your intention that the gift be used for charitable purposes.

There are special rules for valuing a gift of stock. The value of a charitable gift of stock is determined by taking the mean between the high and low stock price on the date of the gift. Mutual fund shares are valued using the closing price for the fund on the date of the gift.
